Singer-songwriter Bruno Mars will get a clean slate and avoid jail time for a cocaine possession bust in 2010 after successfully completing his probationary requirements.
Mars, real name Peter Hernandez, pleaded guilty in January (2011) for the cocaine possession charge after being arrested in Las Vegas after a bathroom attendant at the Hard Rock Hotel caught him with a bag of white powder, which tested positive for cocaine.
In exchange for his guilty plea, the Clark County District Attorney agreed to a "deferred adjudication," meaning Mars’ record would be wiped completely if he doesn’t get in trouble for 12 months and does 200 hours of community service.
The “Grenade” hitmaker has held up his side of the agreement by successfully completing 230 hours for children's charities and health-related non-profit organizations and eight hours with a drug counselor.
Mars, who faced four years in jail and a $5,000 fine, will appear in court today where he is expected to get his record wiped clean.
