Victoria Beckham was among the big winners at the
British Fashion Awards last night. Beckham fought off the likes of Tom Ford, Stella McCartney and Burberry to take home the prize
for Best Designer Brand at the event in London's Savoy Hotel. Choking back the
tears, VB made an emotional acceptance speech, telling the crowd as she began:
"Sorry, I'm being so rubbish."
She then thanked her long-term friend, business partner and
former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller, her parents, her children, and her
"creative and focused" design team. She also paid loving tribute to
her husband, David Beckham, saying:
"Without David I wouldn't have the courage to do what I'm doing."
Sarah Burton of
Alexander McQueen - who designed Kate Middleton's famous
wedding dress this year, and Pippa Middleton's
bridesmaid dress - won the prestigious Designer Of The Year award. Meanwhile,
master of print Mary Katrantzou won Emerging Talent Womenswear Ready-To-Wear,
while Christopher Kane bagged the New Establishment prize.
Alexa Chung scooped the gong for Best British
Style.
Congratulations VB.
